What divisions compete at the U.S. Open Basketball Championships? What is the eligibility criteria for athletes?

USA Basketball will be hosting an East U.S. Open Basketball Championships and a Central U.S. Open Basketball Championships.

East Championships: June 6-8 in Bermuda Run, North Carolina

Central Championships: June 27-29 in Kansas City, Kansas

At the 2025 U.S. Open Basketball Championships, the divisions will be:  

12 & Under Division – Eligible athletes could not turn 13 prior to September 1, 2025
13 & Under Division – Eligible athletes could not turn 14 prior to September 1, 2025
8th Grade Division - Eligible athletes could not turn 15 prior to September 1, 2025 OR athlete MUST have been enrolled in the 8th grade or lower on October 1, 2024 and could not turn 16 prior to September 1, 2024.
9th Grade Division – Eligible athletes cannot turn 16 prior to September 1, 2025 OR Grade Exception: Must have been enrolled in the 9th grade on October 1, 2024 and could not turn 17 prior to September 1, 2025.
10th Grade Division – Eligible athletes cannot turn 17 prior to September 1, 2025 OR Grade Exception: Must have been enrolled in the 10th grade on October 1, 2024 and could not turn 18 prior to September 1, 2025.

All coaches were required to hold a valid USA Basketball 2024-2025 Coach License.
